Soprano Ji Yoon studied Vocal Performance at Seoul National University before completing her Master’s degree in Opera and Lied at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim.
During her studies, she joined the Opera Studio of the National Theatre Mannheim and subsequently became a soloist of the theatre. There she appeared in more than twenty opera productions, performing both leading and supporting roles in works including Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Beethoven’s Fidelio, and Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore. She has also appeared as a guest artist with the Stuttgart State Opera and the Hessian State Theatre Wiesbaden, and performed as a soloist at the Bayreuth Festival.
Alongside her operatic career, Ji Yoon developed a strong interest in historically informed performance practice, leading her to pursue a Master’s degree in Early Music Vocal Performance at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, where she graduated with distinction.
She studied with Snežana Stamenković, Rita Dams, Peter Kooij, Robin Blaze and Pascal Bertin, and has collaborated with conductors including Sébastien Daucé, Philippe Herreweghe, Masaaki Suzuki and Semyon Bychkov. Her artistic activities have brought her to ensembles such as the Netherlands Chamber Choir, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and Ensemble Correspondances.
Currently active as a soloist, Ji Yoon performs throughout Europe and South Korea in concerts, festivals, and opera productions.
Her repertoire spans Renaissance and Baroque music, opera, oratorio, and contemporary works. In recent years, she has also expanded her artistic activities throughout Asia through collaborations with Taiwan’s Gleam Ensemble, contributing to the growing early music scene in the region.
